3 Ways to Improve Your Marketing Clarity in 2021

We know that 2020 was a crazy year… Sports were canceled. Concerts were canceled. Family vacations were canceled.

But here we are at the end of 2020, still running our businesses the best way that we know how. Yes, we had to pivot. Yes, we had to reimagine how we do things. Yes, we had to innovate. But here we are – doing the best that we can.

We can’t control some of the things that happen to us in business. But we can control how we, as business owners, react to what happens to us.

2020 is over, but we have a brand new year ahead of us, and it’s important that we start 2021 on the right foot. Why not hit the “reset button” and take advantage of a brand new year?

Stop confusing your customers!!! I know, I know. It sounds simple. However, most businesses and organizations lose sales and lose potential customers because they aren’t clear in their marketing messaging. I always say “If you aren’t clear, your customers will veer.” They’ll veer away from your messaging, away from your marketing, and essentially away from you business or organization.

Here are 3 Ways to Improve Your Marketing Clarity in 2021:

  1. Beware of the curse of knowledge – You may know everything about the industry that you serve – in fact, you probably do! But you need to put yourself in the shoes of your customer. Do they understand the language you’re using for your business or is your PhD level vocabulary confusing them? Try putting yourself in their shoes as you’re writing copy for your website and marketing materials.
  2. Provide clarity as soon as people go to your website. If customers have to scroll down your website (at all) to understand what you offer, you’ve already lost them. Take advantage of the headings at the top of your website to make sure you’re describing exactly what your business or organization does and how it can make your customers’ life better.
  3. Take advantage of buttons (and all of your “call to actions”). If you don’t have buttons all over your website featuring clear calls to action like “Buy Now” or “Schedule an Appointment” or “Call Now” you’re missing out on a very powerful website strategy tool. Your website visitors want to interact with your business or organization, but people need a clear path in order to do so. Don’t miss out on this super easy way to have people take the first step in interacting with your brand!

I hope that these three tips can help you to improve your messaging clarity in the year 2021! Remember, we can’t control what 2021 has in store for us, but we can control how react, how we pivot and how we continue to innovate as we lead our businesses and organizations!
