Incorporate Keywords in Your Website Copy

There are several reasons why you should be intentional with the keywords and copy in your website design. For starters, it makes your content more enjoyable for your customers and potential leads to read and interact with. But more importantly than that, your intentional keywords will help with your website’s search engine optimization, or SEO.

So, why do you need keywords?

In many cases, high quality keywords on your website are the bridge between your business and your potential customers. Think about it. Every day, people in your city are searching Google for “roofing companies near me,” or “affordable car repair.”

If you’re intentional with your website keywords, you’ll be more likely to be found before anyone else on Google when they search for the products or services that you’re offering.

How do I add keywords to my website?

Now, you mean be thinking “Oh, so I just need to add random words to my website that apply to my line of work, right?” Wrong. It isn’t very effective to incorporate a random listing of keywords on your website. You may be tempted to just write out things like “Roofing, gutters, shingles, roof repair,” but this won’t be nearly as effective as incorporating keywords among rich and valuable content. If you can write blog posts, articles, or even engaging and helpful paragraphs of texts on the “about” or “services” page of your website, you’ll be more likely to get the most out of your keyword strategy.

Using location keywords

Another great strategy for your website as it pertains to keywords is related to your physical location. Consider building a location specific landing page for your website full of location specific keywords. Here’s an example. If you’re a graphic design agency in Lakeland, Florida, you might consider creating a Lakeland page for your website. The top of the website could read, “Lakeland Florida’s Premier Graphic Design Company.” You could write an intro paragraph about how you’re doing work for Lakeland, Florida as well as for the surrounding cities of Plant City, Winter Haven, Tampa, and Orlando. You may also write about how you’ve done website design and logo design for several churches and nonprofits in the Polk County area. Be intentional to include as many service related and location related keywords as possible. However, make sure that your keywords are working together to create meaningful content that your readers will actually benefit from.
